Tributes Pour In for Rob and Michele Reiner as Autopsy Reports Are Sealed.
More than two weeks following the shocking loss of esteemed filmmaker Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer Michele Reiner, peers and loved ones are still paying respects to the pair.
Quoting a Classic: Cary Elwes Recalls His Director
Writing on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who rose to fame in Reiner's iconic movie *The Princess Bride*, stated he only now felt ready to post publicly about his profound loss.
"Adequate time has gone by that I can finally express my sorrow into words," shared Elwes, noting that his first meeting with Reiner created an instant bond. "Once we started passing more hours together I realized this was someone I longed to have in my life."
The actor posted archival material from the film, remarking that he doesn't recollect "any day without mirth".
"This story is about devotion, fidelity and selflessness. Things that Rob valued immensely. Which is among the many reasons he was the perfect person to helm it," Elwes expressed.
He went on to praise Michele Reiner, noting: "Asserting that they were a formidable pair would be an understatement. My heart still hurts every time I think of you." He concluded with a phrase from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but existence is agony without you."
Martin Scorsese Recalls a Friend and Collaborator
In a separate essay, legendary director Martin Scorsese shared memories of Reiner, whom he originally knew in the 1970s.
"Right away, I loved hanging out with Rob. We had a innate rapport for each other. He was very funny and sometimes sharply witty, but he was never the kind of guy who would dominate the room," Scorsese shared.
Scorsese pointed out Reiner's cameo appearance in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, portraying the father of the main character.
"He was skilled at improv with the best. He was a expert at comedy, he worked wonderfully with everyone, and he comprehended the emotional dilemma of his character," Scorsese wrote.
Judicial Actions: Autopsy Reports Restricted
Recently, a Los Angeles superior court judge ruled to bar the release of the Reiners' autopsy reports, following a petition from the local authorities.
A legal directive issued a embargo on the cases to restrict the public release of "any investigative information, documents, files or images" associated with the ongoing investigation.
The coroner's office had already determined their deaths were the outcome of homicide, with a record citing the cause as "wounds from an edged weapon".
Fallout and Commentary
Following the deaths, public personalities expressed varying comments.
Ex-President Donald Trump commented on the matter, making provocative remarks that were met with immediate backlash by numerous commentators.
Podcaster Joe Rogan contributed his perspective to the detractors recently. Talking on his podcast, Rogan characterized the statements as "shocking" and implied they demonstrated a troubling deficiency of sympathy.
Rogan ended by suggesting that an adviser should have intervened when the impulse to weigh in on the passing was made.
