Rob Edwards and O'Neil Among Wolves Head Coach Candidates

Rob Edwards along with Gary O'Neil are two of the initial candidates in the frame to succeed Vitor Pereira as head coach of Wolves.

The previous coach was sacked on the weekend after the squad's 10-match winless beginning to the top-flight season.

And Edwards and O'Neil - each of whom have historic links to the club - are part of the options to be evaluated by the Wolves leadership.

The manager is presently at Middlesbrough, which would pose a possible obstacle to his hiring at Molineux.

However the former Luton manager - who made over a century of games for the club during his playing career - is said to be a leading candidate for the position.

The mid-career manager is said to have support from the club directors as they start the search of appointing a fresh manager.

Gary O'Neil is also appearing as a unexpected contender, although he would be a surprising appointment considering he was released by Wolves in the previous winter.

The ex- West Ham United player is out of work meaning Wolves would not be required to pay any compensation.
