Chiefs Confirm Domestic Violence Claims Involving Player Rashee Rice

The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment on Wednesday evening stating they are aware of claims of abuse circulated in social media posts by a ex-partner of player Rashee Rice and were in contact with the league office.

The organization omitted the name of the player by name in their statement and stated they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention Rice directly, shared a set of images on social media that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. She stated the person involved was the father of her children, and reports indicate she has kids with Rice, whom the Chiefs drafted in the 2023 draft.

No police reports were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the alleged abuse is said to have taken place.

Rice's Prior Off-Field Troubles

The receiver was absent for the initial part of this season following an league-mandated ban for his role in instigating a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that left several individuals hurt. He was sentenced a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to felony charges.

Statistically, Rice finished the year with 53 catches for 571 yards and five touchdowns as the Chiefs went with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a decade.
